{"id":1326,"date":"2026-05-23T08:39:43","date_gmt":"2026-05-23T08:39:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/labortemedi3.site\/?p=1326"},"modified":"2026-05-23T08:39:43","modified_gmt":"2026-05-23T08:39:43","slug":"house-passes-trump-backed-bill-protecting-parental-rights-from-woke-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/labortemedi3.site\/?p=1326","title":{"rendered":"House Passes Trump-Backed Bill Protecting Parental Rights From Woke Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The House passed legislation Wednesday requiring elementary and middle schools to obtain explicit parental consent before changing a student\u2019s pronouns or making other sex-based accommodations.<\/p>\n<p>In a 217-198 vote, the chamber approved the Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act, which would condition certain federal funding on schools complying with the policy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\"><\/div>\n<p>The measure was introduced by Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.), chairman of the House Committee on Education and Workforce, in response to concerns from parents who said schools were not informing them about efforts by students to change their gender identity or pronoun usage, the New York Post reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor years, concerned parents have felt ignored as education bureaucrats push radical agendas in schools without their knowledge or input,\u201d Walberg said on the floor of the House in defense of the legislation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div id=\"ld-4101-7726\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cSchools are facilitating gender transitions or encouraging their students to change their names and pronouns without telling parents. These are enormously consequential decisions that have lasting impacts on a child\u2019s well-being and development,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParents deserve to be part of those conversations,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\"><\/div>\n<p>Several high-profile disputes have emerged recently involving school districts accused of helping students conceal their transgender status from parents, leading to multiple lawsuits nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, The Post reported on a lawsuit against a school district in Connecticut over a policy stating that schools \u201cshould not disclose information that may reveal a student\u2019s transgender status or gender nonconforming presentation to others, including parents\/families\/legal guardians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under the House-passed legislation \u2014 also known as the PROTECT Kids Act \u2014 schools would be required to obtain parental consent before changing a student\u2019s gender markers in school records or allowing the student to use bathrooms or locker rooms designated for the opposite sex.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.) opposed the bill on behalf of Democrats, claiming that it would violate laws preventing federal intervention in classroom curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis bill takes away state and local control of curriculum, the very thing that the current administration claims they\u2019re giving back to states by illegally dismantling the Department of Education,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParental involvement is important, and I support that, and it works in virtually all cases,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut this bill is not about involvement, it\u2019s about federal coercion, forcing schools into a situation where they may have to disclose sensitive information about a student even when they know it could put that child\u2019s safety at risk,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-0\" class=\"\" title=\"X Post\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?dnt=true&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-0&amp;features=e30%3D&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=2057273529276457165&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fconservativebrief.com%2Fhouse-passes-7-101416%2F&amp;sessionId=723940d48ad529d21431c5c83712d7da31853818&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=6a3ad42b224df%3A1778106238597&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"2057273529276457165\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration put out a policy statement saying the president \u201cstrongly supports\u201d the bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParents are the first and foremost educators and protectors of their children,\u201d it began.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYet radical school districts across America have allowed gender ideology indoctrination in schools, even to the point of allowing teachers and other government officials to secretly attempt to socially \u2018transition\u2019 a child away from his or her sex without the knowledge or consent of the child\u2019s parents,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese policies not only violate existing Federal law, but also betray the trust parents place in schools to educate, not indoctrinate, their children,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn January 20, 2025, President Trump issued Executive Order (E.O.) 14168, \u2018Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,\u2019 which recognized that there are only two sexes, male and female, and directed agencies to eliminate the promotion of gender ideology,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShortly thereafter, on January 29, 2025, President Trump issued E.O. 14190, Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling,\u2019 which directed Federal agencies to end the use of Federal funds in K-12 schools from supporting \u2018the instruction, advancement, or promotion of gender ideology,\u201d the White House noted further.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe E.O. also directed Federal agencies to protect parental rights, including under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, (FERPA) and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA),\u201d it said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The House passed legislation Wednesday requiring elementary and middle schools to obtain explicit parental consent before changing a student\u2019s pronouns or making other sex-based accommodations.
